Roll of Honour:

Bill was CSM A Company from about 1959 to 1962. When I joined A Coy, 1st A and SH at Redford Barracks he was CSM of that Coy. I’m sure he was responsible for my being on many Castle and Hollyrood Guards!! He became RSM of the 8th Bn in 1963 and returned to 1st Bn as RSM in 1965. He continued in this role through the end of the Borneo Campaign Plymouth and Aden. He was one of a number with the reorganisations of 1968 who was lost to the Army as his QM Commission did not happen because of the loss of both TA Bn’s and the imminent reduction of A and SH to Coy strength. Bill was a very good amateur snooker player and in later years was often a referee at the televised matches in Scotland.
