From Sandy Henderson – Wallace and I went to Z Coy on 8th May 1961. He in the Scots Guards and myself the Argyll’s. We had been together for many years through Secondary School and the Boys Brigade. It was suggested that Wallace only received parental consent as I would be going with him. This was because as well as Wallace and I being mates our older brothers had also shadowed each other through the Boys Brigade. It was dificult for us to mix generally after Z Company as PS Guards Coy staff did not like us mingling. We got very drunk together on our first couple of leaves before we learned a little sense. He visited me in Singapore while on leave from Malacca in 1965 and unfortunatly that was the last time I saw him. He left the army in early 70′s and I had never been able to track him down. Like many of you who only have that distant memory I feel the loss and having to accept that however long the odds might have been. I finally know we will never meet again.
